Mindfulness, Well-Being,

& Longevity

By Donation (Pay What You Can)

Begins May 2023

"The power of community to create health is far greater than any physician, clinic, or hospital.”— Mark Hyman, M.D.

Dear Friends,

We are excited to announce that our donation-based series for the month of May will focus on Mindfulness, Well-Being, & Longevity. See schedule and speakers below.

Processed foods, sugar, and artificial sweeteners have created havoc on our health. As a population, we are also more sedentary, stressed, and disconnected from others.

How do we better learn what practices support health and well-being?

We have decided to dedicate a month to learning and practicing together.

To support our community in this area, we will engage teachers in the areas of Mindfulness, Well-Being, & Longevity.

Our stellar group of speakers include:

“It's more important to understand the imbalances in your body's basic systems and restore balance, rather than name the disease and match the pill to the ill.”

— Mark Hyman, M.D.

“We’ve been shaped by our genetics and our past. But we also have the gift of neuroplasticity. We can train our minds and bodies for greater stress resilience by creating simple daily habits.”

— Elissa Epel, Ph.D.

“Only 20 percent of our longevity is genetically determined. The rest is what we do, how we live our lives and increasingly the molecules that we take. It's not the loss of our DNA that causes aging, it's the problems in reading the information, the epigenetic noise.”

— David Sinclair

“Researchers have suggested that health disparities in African American women, including adverse birth outcomes, lupus, obesity, and untreated depression, can be explained by stress and coping. The Strong Black Woman/Superwoman role has been highlighted as a phenomenon influencing African American women’s experiences and reports of stress.”

— Cheryl Woods Giscombe, PHD, RN, PMHNP-BC, FAAN
