Wisdom 2.0 Courses ...

February 20, 2011

Many people tell us that while the Wisdom 2.0 Conference is very helpful, they are looking for more on-going support in living with greater presence and purpose in their lives.

I am happy to announce that we are planning to start a series of courses to offer just such support.

The first are: Wisdom 2.0: Living with Purpose and Presence and Wisdom 2.0: Transformation in the Workplace

Wisdom 2.0: Living with Purpose and Presence: A Year Long Course

Facilitated by Soren Gordhamer

This year long course focuses on living with greater presence and purpose in our modern world.

While the technological age offers many benefits, for many people life has become increasingly chaotic, hurried, and stressful ... overwhelmed with a continual stream of emails, text messages, and cell phone calls, awareness of the body goes "off-line" and the present moment is lost. We live "disconnectedly connected," where we are connected to technology, but largely cut off from that place of balance and well being that resides within each one of us.

The course is for those who wish to live with greater purpose and presence, both in their work and non-work environments.

We will meet in person each month for three hours in the Bay area. There will be books to read and practices integrated throughout the year, including online discussion groups. Limited to 15 people.

Soren Gordhamer works with individuals and groups on living with greater mindfulness and purpose in our technology-rich age. He is the founder and host of the Wisdom 2.0 Conference and the author of Wisdom 2.0: Ancient Teachings for the Creative and Constantly Connected (HarperOne, 2009), one of the first books to explore a mindful relationship to modern technology and life.

He has led mindfulness programs in a wide range of settings, including to youth in New York City juvenile halls, trauma workers in Rwanda, teachers in Nigeria, and US technology companies. As project director for Richard Gere's public charity, Healing the Divide, he organized the Healing through Great Difficulty Conference with His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Wisdom 2.0: Transformation in the Workplace: A Year Long Course

This year-long course focuses on transformation in the workplace. It is for people who want to integrate wisdom approaches both individually and within the context of teams and organizations. The principles and tools covered in the course will be applicable to all work sectors or industries.
Work for many people has become a place of tension and stress, based on top-down models that serve neither staff nor the organization.

A new model for work, however, is emerging based on presence, meaning and purpose. In this course, we will explore, “How can we individually, and collectively within our organizations, support these qualities, and create win/win/win relationships for ourselves, our organizations, and society?”

We will have monthly meetings in the Bay area for three hours along with online discussions. There will be books to read and practices integrated throughout the year. The course is for people who are passionate about transforming and bringing wisdom-based principles to the work environment. Limited to 15 people.
